Studio Policies & Forms

PRACTICE
- Students are expected to practice at least 5 days a week for the full time requirement.
- For beginners, parents will sit with their child through practice each day and through each weekly lesson.
- Practice time requirements: beginner: play each piece 2-3 times each day. Elementary: 20-30 minutes each day. Intermediate: 45-60 minutes each day. Advanced: 60-90+ minutes each day.
- If students do not come prepared to lessons 2 weeks in a row, I will contact parents. If students continue to come unprepared to lessons, I may choose to discontinue teaching the student.

LESSONS & RECITALS
- Lessons will occur weekly at my home studio in Lehi, Utah.
- The Fall semester includes 14 lessons and the Spring semester includes 17 lessons.
- There is a recital at the end of each semester.
- In the summer, students must take 8-10 lessons to hold their spot for the Fall.

MISSED LESSONS
- If a rescheduled lesson is necessary, there are two options: 1. Switch times with another student, or 2. Each student is allowed one makeup lesson at the end of each semester on the studio's makeup day. If a large proportion of students request a makeup lesson on the makeup day, a studio group class will take the place of individual lessons.

TUITION
- 45-minute weekly lessons: $210/month/student
- For beginners only: 30-minute lessons: $150/month/student
- For advanced students only: 60-minute weekly lessons: $280/month/student
- Late fee: $15
- Tuition is due on or before the 8th of each month.
- I accept payment through Zelle, cash, or check.
- Breaks (such as Fall break and Spring break) are already factored into tuition and the number of lessons per semester, thus, tuition stays the same month to month.
- Upon beginning lessons, the last month of tuition will be due with the first month of tuition.

AIM & PIANO ADVENTURE EXAMS
- After one year of studying with me, students will begin participating in AIM (Achievement in Music) and/or Piano Adventure (Faber) exams.
- Students are expected to take part in these annual exams unless extenuating circumstances are discussed with me and the parent in advance.
- AIM fee: $35/student
- Piano Adventures fee: theory: $20, performance: $50

SUPPLIES & MATERIALS
- Students/parents provide: a 1" 3-ring binder, 5-tab binder tab dividers, metronome (for at-home practice), pencils/colored pencils (for at-home practice), and books (I will send links to the needed books).
- I provide: an upkept instrument, subscriptions and apps, lesson plans, technique curriculum, the lesson location, recital venues, handouts and reference charts.

SAMPLE LESSONS
- All potential students are free to request a call/Zoom meeting to meet with me.
- They may then request a one-time, 20-30 minute sample lesson (fee: $20). In this lesson, we will get to know each other and determine if could be are a good fit.
- If we decide to begin lessons, students will start on a two-month “pilot period” where we will continue to assess the fit through an extended period of time. At the end of the two months, parents and I will sit down together and discuss how lessons are going and if any adjustments can be made to make lessons more effective.

MEDIA RELEASE
- I frequently share studio accomplishments via a private Facebook group. All pictures and videos are strictly private to the public audience. Only piano families have access to this media for privacy and respect to the students. All recitals are recorded and shared with parents.
